Having founded TWIN in 1990, Geoff is the Chief Investment Officer overseeing the entire quantitative investment process and general management of the firm. Recognized as a specialist in institutional quantitative investment management, he has been quoted in the financial press and authored numerous articles in books and journals.
Additionally, Geoff is a faculty member for the Aresty Institute’s Wharton Executive Education Program on Pension Funds and Investment Management. He participates in a number of foundations’ investment committees and boards including the Burroughs Wellcome Foundation, the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation. Geoff is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Investment Consulting. Prior to founding TWIN, he held senior portfolio management positions at Prudential Insurance and Mellon Equity Associates.
Geoff earned a Ph.D. in Finance and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Personal: Geoff has a passion for swimming, the silver screen (you probably can’t name a movie he doesn’t know about), theater (particularly Broadway), and spending time with his family. In his spare time, you’ll likely find him attending a Pittsburgh sporting event or at the Sundance Film Festival.
Pat has over two decades of experience in quantitative financial and applied econometric research. In his position as Research Director, he is responsible for analysis supporting all of TWIN Capital’s investment models; he also plays a key role in the development of new products. Pat coordinates the activities of TWIN’s outside academic consultants and also helps support TWIN’s quantitative systems software tools. Prior to joining the firm in 1997, he was a Senior Economist at WEFA Group, a researcher for the University of Michigan’s RSQE macroeconomic forecasting center, and an Economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics (US Department of Labor).
Pat is a past Ph.D. candidate in Economics and also received an M.A. in Statistics from the University of Michigan. His undergraduate degree (B.A. in Economics) is from The George Washington University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Personal: Born & raised on the eastern end (Philadelphia) of the state, Pat has called western Pennsylvania home for more than 20 years. He enjoys traveling with his wife and 5 children. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he is also an active volunteer in the local Catholic community.
Since Steve joined the TWIN team in 1999, his responsibilities have grown to encompass multiple roles. As Portfolio Manager, Steve co-manages TWIN’s suite of equity portfolios and as head of equity trading, Steve is responsible for trade implementation and measurement. Steve also works closely with Pat Rocco in supporting the development, testing and evaluation of new and existing quantitative equity models. Furthermore, Steve augments TWIN’s investment process by creating tools that seek to streamline the investment process, analyze equity portfolios and generate potential trading decisions.
Steve has a B.A. in Finance from Duquesne University. Steve additionally holds an M.B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.
Personal: Outside of TWIN, you can find Steve hiking, biking, snow skiing, playing soccer, waterskiing, fishing, and anything else he and his family can do outdoors. He is a also a board member for Mt. Lebanon Soccer Association.
As Portfolio Manager, Sam co-manages TWIN’s suite of equity portfolios. He also supports the distribution of TWIN’s strategies and is responsible for client service at TWIN. Sam joined TWIN in 2018 following Corporate Development roles at Polyconcept and Consol Energy. His prior experience also includes Institutional Equity Sales & Trading at FBR Capital Markets. Sam serves on the Friendship Circle of Pittsburgh’s and the Pittsburgh Jewish Federation’s s Finance Committees.
Sam holds an M.B.A from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. in Business Economics and Public Policy from Indiana University.
Personal: Outside of TWIN, Sam enjoys running, baking, trying to improve his golf handicap, and spending time with his wife and two daughters. He is an avid fan of Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams and his Indiana Hoosiers.
Education: B.S. in accounting, Grove City College
Jim oversees TWIN’s general administration including corporate and fund financial reporting, client portfolio accounting and investment performance reporting, HR and benefits, as well as regulatory compliance. Previously, Jim was employed as a Senior Financial Analyst in the Corporate Finance department of Federated Investors. He also has significant public accounting experience with an international firm, working as an Auditor with KPMG.
Jim received a B.S. in Accounting from Grove City College. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs.
Personal: Outside of TWIN, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. You can find him outdoors with the family dog Oscar, riding his bike on the Montour trail, or tackling a home improvement project. Jim was bitten by the car bug at a young age and enjoys everything automobile-related, especially competing in SCCA Steel Cities regional autocross events. Jim is active in his community and has served in leadership roles for the Boy Scouts of America as well as the various local athletic programs.
Vince’s responsibilities include new business development and client service, with a focus on public funds and Taft-Hartley clients. Prior to joining TWIN in 2008, Vince worked for forty years in various capacities with the United Food and Commercial Workers-Local 23.
Vince currently serves as a delegate on the Allegheny County Labor Council.
Personal: Vince enjoys spending time fishing with his grandchildren and watching them waterski, play hockey and soccer. He makes time to work in his vegetable garden, cooking with its’ harvest year-round. Still working as a community volunteer with the Labor Unions and United Way, Vince and his wife have volunteered for over 45 years as Santa and Mrs. Claus for various charities, including Veteran’s Homes, Stuff-the-Bus and Foster Care
Glenn oversees business on all computers and technology endeavors at TWIN. With his business and marketing background, he also plays an active role in the marketing and identity of the firm.
Glenn received a B.S. Business Administration from the University of Buffalo with concentrations in marketing & management information systems.
Personal: When not wrestling with technology, Glenn can probably be found at a hockey rink. Glenn is the current Vice President of the Arctic Foxes Hockey Association. So, whether he’s coaching his two sons, playing in an adult league or watching the pros, he’s never far from a Zamboni. Glenn also likes to spend his time running and biking, and is an avid fan of 80’s ‘new-wave’ music and retro video games.
Education: B.S. in accounting, State University of New York at Plattsburgh
Margie is responsible a wide variety of client service and administrative tasks. These include preparation of portfolio accounting, custodial reconciliation, and client reports. Before joining TWIN Capital in 2002, Margie worked as the Office Manager for an architectural firm.
Personal: In her free time, Margie enjoys running, hiking and playing with her grandkids. Margie is always looking for new adventures and unique experiences.
